Sought after by agencies and clients for his skilled eye and artistic vision, Tippit has lensed national spots for Verizon Wireless and feature films including a Best of Show winner at the Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, AL.
He's also no stranger to the hard-working electrical department on feature films starring Nicolas Cage, Bruce Willis, Danny Glover, Robert De Niro, John Cusack and more.
An accomplished still photographer specializing in large format landscapes, his work is featured in galleries, workspaces and homes along the Gulf Coast.
Originally pursuing a career as an architect, Tippit made the decision to change paths and follow his life-long love of photography and film. He has a unique blend of left and right-brain attributes that enables him to approach each project with the heart of an artist and the sensibility of an engineer. He is self-taught.
Tippit completed his undergraduate degree in communications at the University of South Alabama and shortly after graduating went into business for himself as a producer and cinematographer. He's currently an owner, along with his business partner and visual effects artist, Jonathan Reynolds, in the regional powerhouse production company Volta Studios with offices in Atlanta and Mobile, AL. He has taught seminars and been the guest lecturer in the film departments at the University of Alabama, the University of South Alabama, and the University of Mobile.
When not behind a camera, Tippit enjoys pursuing other creative endeavors such as playing the guitar and piano and writing screenplays and poetry. He also loves movies, reading, art and music and trying to learn Spanish.
He and his wife Jean enjoy traveling and cooking together, watching movies and TV (only the good shows), being involved in their community and talking about anything and everything. They have two children, Amy and Ashley. As a family, the four are a formidable force for fun and good in the universe.
